When you visit Westerhaar, you must spare time to take a look at the peat museum "Vriezenveenseveld".
Westerhaar-Vriezenveensewijk has the longest city name in the Netherlands with 28 characters.
During time both villages (Westerhaar and Vriezenveensewijk) grew together. Because of the large name Westerhaar-Vriezenveensewijk, inhabitants and other local people most of the times only speak about “Westerhaar” or, as the locals themselves say, " De Wieke".
There is so much more to tell, but why don’t you come to see for yourself. Perhaps you like to swim in the outdoor pool ” De Plump”, or visit the peat museum or perhaps you like to walk or cycle through ” De Engbertsdijksvenen
